It really irks me when a child is offered a new food or experience and the parent quickly intervenes with, “Oh, you won’t like that.” Parents who do this are predisposing the kid to dislike something that could potentially be one of his favorite foods or activities later in life. Parents should let their kids be open to trying new things, letting the children decide what they enjoy. In fact, I would go so far as to say that parents who negatively predispose their children are abusing the sacred trust that children implicitly have for their mother or father.
