I recently realized that I have not been bored in a long, long time. I can’t remember the last time I even used the word. Maybe high school or during a college break? There are just too many things that require my time: a full time job, a family to enjoy, a home and yard to maintain. And even after all those needs are met, I’ve crafted my life around allowing free time for things I enjoy: books, movies, games. I honestly don’t think I will be bored again until I retire. And even then, I’m sure I will fill my time with things to enjoy.
This is perhaps the most wonderful part of being an adult. As a kid I would often complain about being bored. Not so as an adult; I crash into bed every night from a day well spent, and wake up the next morning ready to take on the new day’s challenges. It’s quite fantastic.
