We always order Chinese takeout on Christmas Eve. This is a wonderful tradition that began when I was a kid. With Christmas day typically involving a big family dinner, almost no one wants to cook a meal at home the night before. And Chinese restaurants are always open on Christmas Eve. And you can have a nice little lunch of leftovers before Christmas dinner. The tradition works on so many levels!
Up until now, we have always ordered our Christmas Eve takeout from any hole in the (Great) wall. But things just got real. Earlier this year I discovered the most wonderful authentic Chinese restaurant: Sichuan Bistro in Mason, Ohio. I highly recommend the Authentic Kungpao Chicken and a side of Dandan Noodles.
Having spent three weeks abroad in China, I’m a little bit of a snob when it comes to Chinese food. You know how the typical fare leaves you feeling really full and a little queasy afterwards? Authentic Chinese food imposes none of those qualities. It’s delicious and fresh, leaving you completely satisfied. Sichuan Bistro has irrevocably ruined any other Chinese takeout for me, for which I am immensely grateful.
