Cats are clean, and self-cleaning. Dogs need to be washed, track in mud, and leave your hands feeling greasy after you pet them.
Cats are self-sufficient. We can pack up and leave for a long weekend, and the cats just need a little extra food and water and a clean litter box. Dogs need to be let out and fed, or put in a kennel to have someone do these things for you.
Speaking of which, it is much easier to scoop out a litter box than walk around the yard with a grocery bag (hoping you don’t miss and step in it). You never have to “look out” for cat dookie.
I never hear people say, “My cat ate my favorite [whatever].” Dogs on the other hand...
When they want to be sweet, cats are cuddly and snuggle up nicely in your lap. It’s also no big deal if they get on the couch or bed. Most dogs are too big to want on your lap or any other furniture.
In my mind, the only advantage of a dog is that they easily learn tricks. BFD. I’ll take the other advantages any day.
And for the record, my cat comes when I whistle!
