A very good show, Breakout Kings, was cancelled after two seasons for various reasons, including because the producer moved on to another project. That’s fine; I understand that no show can go on forever. But don’t end a season on a cliffhanger and then cancel the show. That would be like J.K. Rowling deciding halfway through the Potter series that she’s done with those books and is doing something else. Or like actors walking out halfway through a play. Unacceptable. If you have captured an audience, you have a responsibility to see your project through to the end.
Would it have been that hard to use the last five minutes of the finale to resolve the loose ends? No. I could have written it in my sleep. But instead, we get a giant middle finger. This is why we have trouble getting invested in your schmuck, Hollywood. Write your shows from start to finish and deliver.
